GEO (Generative Engine Optimization): make AI assistants recommend your business
Customers increasingly ask ChatGPT, Alice or GigaChat instead of a search engine — and get a ready-made answer naming 2–5 companies. We make sure you are one of them.
- 16 years in SEO — we know where AI assistants get their data
- We measure visibility in our own service, PromoLab AI Radar
- We work honestly: no promises of "top of ChatGPT in a week"
Search has changed: people get an answer, not a list of links
A customer used to open 5–10 websites and compare them. Now an AI assistant compares for them and immediately names who to contact. A business that is missing from that answer is simply invisible to the customer.
that is how much traditional search volume may shrink by 2026 because of AI assistants
Gartner forecast, 2024is often all a user needs: the AI assistant answers right away and the sites in the results never get opened
The "zero-click answer" effectcompanies is what an AI assistant usually names in a recommendation. The rest do not exist for the customer
A shortlist instead of search resultsis the best moment to start: in most niches competitors are not doing GEO yet, so securing a place in AI answers is easier
Window of opportunityGEO is SEO for AI assistants
Generative Engine Optimization is work on your website and your brand's digital footprint so that generative systems understand who you are, trust you and mention you in their answers — with a recommendation and a link to the source.
SEO competes for rankings and clicks in search results. GEO competes for a place in the answer itself. It is not a replacement for SEO but the next stage: AI assistants largely rely on the same sites that rank well in search.
| SEO | GEO | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Rankings and clicks from search results | Mentions and citations in AI answers |
| Where we work | Mostly the website | Website + media, directories, rankings, reviews, communities |
| Queries | Short keywords | Long conversational questions |
| Content | Articles and landing pages | FAQs, comparisons, how-tos, tables, data |
| Signals | Technical health, relevance, links | Expertise, structure, citability, reputation |
| Metrics | Traffic, rankings, conversions | AI visibility, citations, share of mentions |
How an AI assistant decides who to recommend
Simplified, the path from a customer's question to the answer looks like this. We work on every step.
- 1Understands the question
Rephrases the query and works out what the person actually needs
- 2Looks for sources
Websites, media, directories, reviews — the ones that are accessible and trustworthy
- 3Extracts facts
Takes what is easy to read: clear answers, lists, tables, structured data
- 4Composes the answer
Names the companies that several sources "agree" on, and links to them
Industry media, rankings, reviews, specialized platforms — the more often and consistently you are written about, the more confident the AI assistant is.
Answers to real customer questions, comparisons, how-tos, figures with sources and a last-updated date.
The same name, contacts, services and facts on your website, in maps, directories and social networks.
The number, recency and sentiment of reviews are an important signal, especially for local businesses.
An open robots.txt, fast loading, text that does not depend on JavaScript, Schema.org and llms.txt.
AI assistants prefer recent, regularly updated materials.
Check whether AI assistants can see your website
An express check of your technical readiness for AI search: access for ChatGPT, Perplexity, Yandex and other bots, llms.txt, structured data, content without JavaScript. About 30 seconds.
Your site's AI-search readiness score and a list of things worth fixing will appear here.
Leave your e-mail and we'll open the PDF version of the report right away, so you can save it or send it to your developer. Optionally, subscribe to our short weekly digest: digital marketing and AI, no fluff.
The express check evaluates technical conditions only. Your brand's actual visibility in AI answers is revealed by the full AI audit — we test dozens of your customers' questions in our own service, PromoLab AI Radar.
8 work streams that deliver results together
We ask AI assistants the questions your customers ask, in our PromoLab AI Radar service. We record whether you are mentioned, whether you are recommended, who gets recommended instead of you and which sources are cited.
We collect conversational queries — "what to choose", "where is best", "how much does it cost", "what is the difference" — and prioritize them by business value.
Robots.txt for AI bots, Schema.org (Organization, Service, FAQ, Article), llms.txt, speed, text without JavaScript, "About us" and expert pages.
FAQs, comparisons, how-tos, roundups and research in a format AI assistants can easily extract and cite.
We clean up your company data on the website, in maps, directories and aggregators so that the AI assistant understands unambiguously who you are.
Publications in industry media and on platforms AI assistants read: vc.ru, Habr, Dzen, TenChat, rankings and directories.
We help you build a systematic review process on key platforms — AI assistants take them into account when making recommendations.
Regular measurements in PromoLab AI Radar: mentions, recommendations, share against competitors, links to your site. We show the trend in a monthly report.
The plan for the first 6 months
After the audit in the first month, we adjust the plan to your niche and the actual picture in AI assistants.
- AI visibility audit of your brand and competitors
- Customer question map
- Technical preparation of the website
- First materials: a comparison, a how-to, a case study
- Publications on 3–5 external platforms
- Work on company listings and directories
- Reviews and reputation signals
- Setting up regular monitoring
- Regular release of GEO materials
- Participation in rankings and reviews
- Doubling down on the formats and platforms AI assistants respond to
- Expanding the pool of tracked questions
- Measurements against a fixed list of questions
- Share of mentions versus competitors
- What was done and what we change next
How we measure the effect
AI assistants do not show "rankings", so we built our own measurement service — PromoLab AI Radar. It regularly asks AI assistants your customers' questions, saves the answers and finds your brand and competitors in them.
- Mentions
- How often the AI assistant names your company in its answers
- Recommendations
- How often it directly advises contacting you
- Share against competitors
- How much attention goes to you and how much to competitors
- Links to your site
- Whether the AI assistant links to your website as a source
- Position in the list
- In which position you are named among other companies
- Sentiment
- The tone in which you are talked about
- Visits and leads
- Traffic from AI services in Yandex Metrica and the leads it brings
A service for monitoring brand visibility in AI answers. It shows whether an AI assistant mentions your company, whether it recommends it and which competitors it names more often. We already run measurements in it, and we are opening access to companies gradually.

What affects the cost
- Niche and competition. Healthcare, finance, e-commerce — topics where getting into AI answers is harder and more expensive.
- Brand awareness. If nobody writes about you yet, the start costs more than for a company with an established reputation.
- Number of sources in your industry. The fewer trusted sources there are, the more content and mentions need to be created.
- Content volume. Expert articles, FAQs, comparisons — the more of them you need, the higher the cost.
- External platforms. We need to build a base of trusted sources that AI assistants draw their data from.
- Technical state of the site. No structured data, no FAQ markup, no proper structure — more work to do.

Who needs GEO first
Anyone whose customers ask for advice before buying: "who to choose", "where is best", "how much does it cost".
"Which clinic to choose", "a good dentist nearby". A field with heightened trust requirements.
EducationOnline schools, universities and courses: "where is the best place to study", "which courses to choose".
E-commerceProduct roundups and comparisons where the AI assistant recommends specific stores and brands.
Real estate and constructionAgencies, developers, construction companies — expensive decisions with a long selection process.
HoReCa and travelHotels, restaurants, entertainment: "where to stay", "where to go".
Logistics, manufacturing, IT, lawyers, agencies — contractor recommendations.
The foundation is strong SEO
GEO is a new discipline, and there are still few public GEO case studies on the market. But AI assistants rely on sites that are highly visible in search — and that is where we have 16 years of practice.
The world of search is changing. More and more people ask their questions not in Yandex or Google but to AI assistants — and get a ready-made answer. If your brand is not in it, you are losing customers without ever knowing it.
We have been doing SEO for 16 years and understand where AI assistants get their knowledge about companies. We will be honest: the market is new and forecasts are tentative. But you can already get results today — and secure a place in AI answers before your competitors do.
Honest about GEO
AI answers change from one query to the next. We do not promise the impossible — we systematically increase the likelihood that you get named, and we measure it.
The first changes appear after 1–2 months; a stable effect takes 3–6 months of regular work.
Empty texts written for volume damage your reputation and lower your chances of being cited. We do less, but make it more useful.
We implement llms.txt and other new practices carefully, without making the result dependent on any single tool.
